Outstanding Nursery Education

Why Childhaven?

We are a unique and curious setting offering your child a wonderful world of experiences in their earliest years.  We have recently achieved the Curiosity Approach accreditation and are the only setting in the area with this prestigious badge. Please see www.thecuriosityapproach.com.

Children are free to access a whole range of learning opportunities, indoors and out all year round.  We operate on two floors of a unique and beautiful Victorian building, as well as offering a fantastic garden space which the children can access in all weathers.

We have a highly qualified teaching team, including qualified teachers, higher level and advanced teaching assistants.  We have specialisms in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, Speech and Language Development, beach schools, early reading, writing and maths, sensory play, heuristic play, and working with children for whom English is an additional language.

We also offer a range of enhanced activities, including…

Beach schools, food activities, walks and visits, Kathy Seabrook’s fun music, Yoga sessions, Jabadao (developmental movement play), nature club with our resident gardener, music and movement club with the Stephen Joseph Theatre and adults with dementia.

Safeguarding

We take safeguarding children seriously.  We work closely with North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership. If you are worried about a child, please call 01609 780780.

Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Kathryn Firth and our Deputy Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Donna Rose. You can speak to us at any time.
